Marvel Rivals Unveils New Event with Player Engagement
Marvel Rivals has successfully hosted a series of engaging events since its inception, and its latest offering continues that trend. The Act 3 of the Hellfire Gala Moments Event heavily emphasizes player participation, featuring a range of characters from the Marvel universe. Some characters are favored to win more than others, reflecting the natural biases that can arise among both developers and players. The event is themed around Season 2’s Hellfire Gala, which takes place in the mutant sanctuary of Krakoa, hosted by Emma Frost, the head of the Hellfire Trading Company. The event also boasts a wealth of rewards, giving players the chance to earn various prizes through mission completions.
### Marvel Rivals Season 2 Introduces New Features
In Season 2, Marvel Rivals unveiled the Hellfire: Krakoa map, which includes an Easter egg hinting at a beloved character from the franchise. The gameplay associated with the Hellfire Gala Moments Event is structured into three acts, with Acts 1 and 2 offering the bulk of rewards. In Act 1, players can tackle three main mission objectives, earning between fifty to eighty Chrono Tokens from various quests. Act 2 ramps up the excitement, allowing players to collect X-Coins that can be exchanged for gifts like a new MVP, nameplates, emotes, and additional Chrono Tokens. This reward system is reminiscent of typical battle pass mechanics seen in other games.
### Act 3: Voting for the Next Hellfire Gala Costume
Act 3 introduces an intriguing element where players earn Voting Tokens by completing missions. These Tokens allow players to vote for which hero will receive a new Hellfire Gala Costume for the upcoming year, hinting at the possibility of the Hellfire Gala becoming an annual celebration in Marvel Rivals, much like its portrayal in the comics. Players have eight characters to choose from, including Emma Frost, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Cloak & Dagger, Wolverine, Black Widow, Hulk, and Captain America. Voting is not limited, as players can cast multiple votes, and any surplus X-Coins can be converted into Voting Tokens. Additionally, players can earn a Gallery Card after voting ten times, with one Card available for each hero mentioned.
### Emma Frost’s Chances of Winning
Among the heroes participating in the Hellfire Gala Moments Event, Emma Frost stands out as the only character lacking her own Hellfire Gala Costume. Despite being the event’s host and introduced during the season, she hasn’t received a unique outfit for the Gala. Her X-Revolution costume does not qualify as a Hellfire Gala attire, unlike other heroes who boast their dedicated outfits. Furthermore, criticisms regarding Emma Frost’s base design have emerged, particularly concerning her resemblance to Dagger and the Invisible Woman in color scheme and style. Dagger even has a voice line that highlights these design similarities, indicating that the developers, NetEase, are aware of this issue. Ultimately, the outcome of the voting will determine which hero will receive a new Hellfire Gala costume next year. However, given the various factors favoring Emma Frost, her victory in the Hellfire Gala Moments Event would not come as a surprise.
